As cliché as this is, I knew I wanted this particular whiskey recipe to have honey in it. You know, the Winne the Pooh reference. I had recently made a honey orange glazed chicken so that flavor profile was still on my brain. I thought, why not make a honey and orange simple syrup – I felt like that would pair well with whiskey.
This West African Peanut stew is definitely a must try in my honest and humble opinion. With time from prep to eating under 45 minutes, you can get dinner on the table in record time. Not only is it delicious, its also healthy and super easy to make. Regardless of your dietary preference you have options. This recipe is strictly vegan but it works great with fried fish, beef, chicken and so much more. I did cut a few corners but eh, why not go the easy route especially if it doesn’t take away from the flavor. Typically you’ll find me roasting raw peanuts but I picked up some dry roasted (Unsalted ) peanuts from Walgreens for this one. I still enjoy the smell from pan roasting peanuts, it brings back those long lost childhood memories. Feel free to roast your own peanuts!
Do you have a food kryptonite? I do. I’m sensitive to gluten, sugar and dairy. This has always made eating a bit of a chore but manageable, that is until my sweet tooth factors in. Until recently, eating something as rich and delicious as cheesecake was a big no no. My body is unable to metabolize sugar, carbs/gluten, and dairy which causes a drastic decline in energy levels, weight gain, and it also makes me physically ill. My favorite dessert however, would be cheesecake. You would think I’d stay away from something that causes so many undesirable side effects, you would be wrong. That’s because I have a secret weapon in this amazing skinny cheesecake. Taking heed from vegan dessert recipes I went to work on a low sugar, no dairy, gluten free cheesecake and the results were satisfactory!
I love yummy appetizers and this brazen bourbon meatball recipe really fits the bill!
One of the things that I find hard about facing any appetizer is not eating the whole darn thing. And when it’s just Christopher and I eating whatever the delish appetizer happens to be, I make a small batch so we won’t be tempted!
Me: Me. Okay? Me! I’m tempted!
