Takato Brand Design + Paid Advertising
Location: Fort Lauderdale, Florida
The ask: Conrad Fort Lauderdale Beach, part of the Hilton family, was looking to revamp and transition their Mediterranean hotel restaurant to a Japanese-Korean fusion restaurant named Takato. With a gorgeous ocean-front view, the new restaurant would be an upscale and contemporary take on traditional Japanese and Korean cuisine.
Design strategy: For Takato’s design strategy we honed in on the upscale and waterfront essence of the hotel. We wanted to stay far away from stereotypical Japanese design elements to create a unique approach for Takato that was high-end, modern, and appealable to the hotel’s affluent clientele. We drew inspiration from nature, the ocean, and traditional Japanese imagery and art to create the color palette. Minimal designs that mix neutrals with pops of muted color and elegant serif typography created a brand that is sophisticated and delicate, yet exciting.

Final Brand Design: The design we created for Takato is minimal and elegant. Inspired by nature and the restaurant’s oceanfront location, we weaved blues and greens into a neutral color palette and leveraged ancestral Japanese Seigaiha waves into the brand patterns. A final touch is the brand’s tea leaf submark, which was inspired by the Japanese-Korean menu items. The final design is a modern and upscale brand that perfectly evokes the restaurant’s stylish, fun, and luxurious essence.

Paid Media Strategy + Management: With a new brand identity in place, Takato looked to spreading awareness about their new restaurant and excellent Japanese-Korean cuisine. We partnered with the restaurant's social media team to establish a strategy for paid advertising leveraging existing content on Facebook and Instagram. In just a few weeks, Takato’s paid advertisements drove more than 1,100 diners to the restaurants reservation page and their social channels doubled in following size.
