How does the influencer selection process work for each campaign?
Foodie Tribe reaches out with campaign opportunities via email. Each campaign email includes details for the partnership and a link to apply for the opportunity.
We receive hundreds of applications for each campaign. Once an application has closed, the Foodie Tribe team reviews all of the applications and narrows down the list of influencers to the best fitting candidates for that particular brand and campaign. We look at factors such as location, content ideas, content rate, number of followers, engagement rate, and aesthetics that align with the brand.
The Foodie Tribe team compiles a recommended short-list that we share with the brand. The brands have the last say on who they would like to partner with for their campaign.
Every campaign is different, and therefore our criteria for choosing influencers varies each time. Some brands are looking to partner with nano and micro influencers, while others want to work with macro influencers. Sometimes the brands need people in specific cities and other times the campaigns are nationwide. Some brands have large budgets and others have much smaller budgets. All of these factors are taken into consideration when choosing influencers for a campaign.
Once the brand has decided on who they want to work with, the Foodie Tribe team reaches out to the chosen influencers via email to confirm their participation and request signature on an agreement.
Are influencers informed if they are not chosen for a campaign?
Since we typically receive hundreds of applications for each campaign, it’s impossible for our small team to reach out to every applicant to let them know that they were not chosen for an opportunity. We only reach out to the selected influencers.
We ask that you not be discouraged! What isn’t a great fit for one brand may be the perfect fit for another brand. We love the variety and diversity of influencers we have in our Tribe, and it’s one of the reasons brands love to work with us.
Do smaller influencers have a chance of being chosen for campaigns?
Yes! As mentioned above, each campaign is different. Some brands are looking to work with large macro and power influencers, but others prefer to work with a larger quantity of nano and micro influencers. Smaller influencers tend to have high engagement rates, and that’s often a priority for some brands.
Why aren’t there as many campaigns in my city as other cities?
We would LOVE to have campaigns in every city our Tribe members live. We’re a growing company and we’re constantly working hard to partner with new brands in new cities and countries. Our hope is that as we continue to grow, you’ll see even more campaigns in a variety of locations. Right now, many of our campaigns are nationwide, so it doesn’t matter where in the US you are located!
Will there be campaigns in the UK, Canada, and Australia?
That’s our hope! We’re happy to work with brands and agencies in the UK, Canada, and Australia, and we have a great group of influencers in these countries. We hope that as our business continues to grow, our opportunities will extend beyond the US as well.
How do influencers know if their requested rates are too high for a campaign?
This is a difficult question to answer since every influencer has different rates for their content based on a variety of factors. And, not to mention, every brand we work with has completely different budgets for their campaigns. If a brand has a $10k budget to work with 5 influencers, and your content rate is $4k, that’s a huge dent in that brand’s budget and not an effective investment for their campaign strategy. If a brand has a $75k budget for a campaign, then a $4k rate is much more feasible.
We ask that you provide us with YOUR best rate, and that rate is different for each influencer based on size, type of content, quantity of content, and engagement rate. It could be anywhere from $50 - $15,000+! Think of our campaign process as a bid. We’re looking for the best fitting influencers for a brand that will also get them the best return on their investment.
Can influencers negotiate rates?
Because of the high volume of applications we receive for each campaign, it’s nearly impossible for us to negotiate rates. In some cases, a brand really wants to work with a specific influencer and their rate may be a little high for the campaign. In those situations, we may reach out to the influencer to see if they can offer a more affordable rate or a lower quantity of content. Consider the application process a bid and provide the best possible rate you’d accept for the content being requested.
Does Foodie Tribe only work with foodie influencers?
Mostly, yes! However, we also accept applications from and work with lifestyle and mom-influencers that frequently include a foodie component in their content, whether that's a focus on eating out in their cities or making recipes at home.
Are there campaign opportunities for restaurant-focused influencers?
Yes! Pre-coronavirus, about half of our total campaign opportunities were focused on heading out to restaurants and trying their food or attending in-person events. Since March of 2020, we have naturally seen a huge lean towards CPG brands and food + beverage brands that we can experience from the comfort of our homes since going out to restaurants has become so difficult. And of course, restaurants have been hit very hard by the pandemic, thus pulling back marketing dollars to focus on other priorities.
