A Guide to Foodie Tribe’s Favorite Places to Eat

Would you be remotely surprised to learn that the team behind the scenes at Foodie Tribe is comprised of a bunch of… foodies? It goes without saying, but everyone on team FT is really into food. We teamed up with our friends at Proxi to put together this Local Recommendations map using their innovative and easy-to-use map interface. Each person on team Foodie Tribe shared their favorite local food spots for their city. Check out some of the featured spots below, and explore the Proxi map above to view all of our recommendations!

Miami, Florida

  • Bachour - This spot is owned and operated by celebrity chef Antonio Bachour. Whether you are in the mood for a killer Spanish-style brunch or looking for a tuna sandwich with some awesome fries, this is the spot to visit. Plus, Antonio Bachour is a well-renowned pastry chef so you can pick up some pretty delicious and beautiful croissants while you are there.

  • Mandolin Aegean Bistro - One of the best things Miami has to offer is that you can always find authentic food from all over the world. Mandolin Aegean Bistro does not shy away from its fresh and original Greek flavors and dishes. Walking through the blue wooden door, it’s like you’ve found yourself in Santorini just two minutes from your parked car. Located in the Design District, they serve Greek food prepared and made traditionally. This is a spot you don't want to pass up in Miami.

  • AWA - AWA is a Miami restaurant featuring Asian cuisine that is to die for! It’s the kind of spot where every time you go, you have to order something different (and you’ll never be disappointed!). They are located on the Miami River and the views of the city are truly a sight to see. The overall experience is great and the customer service is outstanding as well!

Raleigh, North Carolina

  • Poole’s Diner - Poole’s is a favorite in Raleigh! It’s owned by James Beard award-winning chef, Ashley Christensen, and has an incredible seasonal up-scale southern menu. You have to try the Mac and Cheese Au Gratin and the Pimento Cheese!

  • The North Carolina State Farmers Market - The State Farmers Market is an institution in Raleigh and the whole of NC. It’s open 365 days a year and full of local farmers selling seasonal produce and local food. In the autumn, they have the biggest pumpkins you’ve ever seen. And in the summer, the barrels of juicy NC tomatoes make you want to eat them like apples.

Charlotte, North Carolina

  • Optimist Hall - Optimist is a food hall with several local restaurants to choose from. Some of our favorites are Papi Queso, which is an upscale grilled cheese restaurant, and The Dumpling Lady, which has authentic dumplings and noodles. But really anything you try at Optimist will not disappoint!

  • Rhino Market and Deli - This market has everything, including beer on tap, wine, coffee, hot breakfast sandwiches, and a deli. It’s a great place to grab a quick sandwich or just hang out and grab a coffee. We highly recommend trying their breakfast burritos!

Chicago, Illinois

  • Publican - This is the place to go for a celebratory meal. With a seasonal, family-style menu that is filled with upscale American food, you’ll want one of everything. We’ve never thought carrots could taste so good, or that a chicken dinner would be a go-to order at a restaurant. And don’t forget to save room for at least one of their desserts.

  • Little Bad Wolf - If you are looking for the best burger in Chicago, look no further. This is the place to be. A double cheeseburger, with crispy onions, and a burger sauce with fries is all you need. And if you’re looking for more than a burger they have that too, with mac and cheese that is perfect for a cold night.

New York, New York

  • Farmer in the Deli - It may look like an unassuming corner deli in Brooklyn, but head to the counter (there will likely be a line) and order your sandwich chopped. Then add your favorite sandwich items like cheese, tomatoes, hot peppers, mayo, etc. It will all be chopped together and is one of the best sandwiches ever. Trust us.

  • Au Za’atar - Au Za’atar has fantastic and Instagram-worthy Lebanese and Middle Eastern food. Order the shawarma that comes to the table ready to be carved over a bed of delicious fries so you can make your own pitas - it will be everyone’s favorite. They have delicious dips, small plates, and more.

  • Rubirosa - There is one thing, and only one thing, you must order from Rubirosa located on Mulberry street, and that is their tie-dye pizza! This is a classic thin cheese pizza topped with a swirl of pesto sauce. It is just as aesthetically pleasing as it is mouth-wateringly delicious. Heads up, reservations are a must!
