Foodie Tribe’s Guide to Our Favorite Latin Restaurants in Miami

In the mosaic of cultures that make up the city of Miami, Latin food has etched its vibrant flavors into the city’s culinary soul. Miami and Latin culture are practically synonymous, and both are a part of our DNA here at Foodie Tribe.

As we celebrate Hispanic Heritage this month, and throughout the year, we can’t miss the opportunity to acknowledge and praise just a few of the multitude of incredible Latin restaurants you’ll find in our city. Curated by our team’s South Florida natives, here is our list of our favorite Latin restaurants you can’t miss in Miami.

Versailles (Cuban Food)

If you’ve spent even a few seconds researching food in Miami, then you’ve probably come across Versailles. This legendary Miami eatery is the cornerstone of Cuban dining in the city, and its hype is 100% justifiable.

What to order? Their Cuban sandwich is a comforting favorite, or try a traditional plate like the ropa vieja, arroz imperial, rabo encendido, or puerco asado. Cap off dinner with Miami's unofficial brew of choice – a cortadito, or Cuban coffee.

El Altaklat (Salvadorian Food)

If you’ve never had a warm and cheesy pupusa, please kindly exit this blog post and immediately head to your nearest Salvadorian restaurant. El Altaklat is known for sharing its Salvadorian roots and culture with our Miami community by way of their traditional cuisines – pupusas, meat dishes, seafood, and some incredible soups! We love it because their flavors are bold and their hospitality is warm.

What to order? The pupusas de queso are an absolute must! We’re also big fans of the churrasco and pescado frito, and you can’t go wrong with any of their soups.

Finka Table & Tap (Cuban / Peruvian / Korean Fusion)

Fusion restaurants often get a bad rap for not actually nailing any of the cuisines they offer. But hear us out!  In a city that is literally a fusion of people from all over the world, we know a thing or two about combining the best foods from different cultures. Enter: Finka. The most delectable combination of Cuban, Peruvian, and Korean influences.

What to order? Is “everything” an acceptable answer? We love the braised oxtail, tostones con vaca frita, and the Cuban fried rice. Finish off the meal with the guava cheesecake or flan!

Graziano's Market (Argentinian Food)

Grazianos is a magical place. It’s a restaurant, yes, but it’s also… A bakery! A butcher shop! A wine shop! And the best place in town to watch everyone’s new favorite Miami resident, Lionel Messi, lead Inter Miami CF to a win. What more can we ask for?

What to order? Grazianos is known best for its meats and its empanadas. We love the choripan classico and the sandwich de asado, from the sandwich menu. But you also can’t go wrong ordering a few empanadas and a salad to share. Finish off your meal with a coffee and an alfajor cookie.

Mi Rinconito Mexicano (Mexican Food)

In a city known for its diversity of Latin cuisines, good and authentic Mexican food is actually pretty hard to come by, so thank goodness for Mi Rinconcito Mexicano! Tucked into a pretty unexpected location – the middle of Little Havana – this old-school Mexican spot is authentic, unpretentious, and (most importantly) delicious!

What to order? Their combination plates are the best option for trying a few different things. Combo #1 is our absolute favorite with the sope, flauta, gordita, and taco. Other menu staples are the chilaquiles, menudo, and tamales. Don’t forget to order a concha, Mexican sweet bread!
