How to Support Your Favorite Influencers in 2022

Influencers are a huge part of social media, and odds are, you probably follow at least one. It’s important to remember that an influencer’s audience is the most important factor in their success. And I don’t mean the size of the audience… it’s about the engagement of the audience!

A lot of social media users don’t realize how crucial their engagement with an influencer’s content is to them succeeding. So here are a few ways you can support your favorite creator, so they can keep making content for you!

Do more than just hit “like.” Save, comment, share, and engage!

Remember when likes were the most important metric to determine the success of a social media post? Well today, metrics such as saving and sharing are more important than the like button. When you see an influencer post something that resonates with you, try to do more than just like it. Actions such as sharing and saving posts let the creator, and the algorithm, know they are providing valuable content.

Don’t scroll past a sponsored post

If your favorite influencer posts a paid campaign with a brand, don’t scroll past. Engage with the post! Whether you comment, save, or share, these metrics all help the influencer prove to the brand that their paid content is getting valuable reach. The more these paid ads succeed, the more that creator can continue to work with brands and create content for you.

Click on their links

When influencers share unique links, most often those links track how many times it’s been clicked or how many purchases are made from clicks. This is an important metric to show brands that an influencer’s audience is interested in the products they are sharing and making purchases directly from an influencer’s post. 

Respond to polls, interactive stories, etc.

Interactive Instagram story polls and questions are meant to be interacted with! With the extra tap of your screen on a poll, or a quick question in an “Ask Me Anything” helps an influencer see what percentage of their audience is engaged and interested. 

Visit their website / blog / Patreon

Although influencers' content mainly lives on social platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube, they often have their own websites, blogs, or Patreons. By visiting these websites, you can show your support for their work outside just social media. 

Join their email list 

I know we all get spammed with emails, but joining an influencer or content creator’s email list can really support them in the long run. They often provide a lot of value to their email list, more than their audience on a social media platform. 

Consistency is key

Consistently engaging in your favorite creator’s content is a great indicator for them that you are interested. This provides motivation for them to continue making high-quality content on a consistent basis since they know their audience is reacting and responding. 

Tell them what you want to see

Most influencers are constantly adjusting their strategy, content, and focus to provide value to their audience. Whether a fashion creator wants to provide the best clothes recommendations or a food blogger wants to provide the best recipes, almost all influencers can agree that they are making content for the audience first. So if an influencer ever asks “What do you want to see from me” make sure you answer! Sharing what you would want to see helps them adjust their strategy and content so it is more interesting to you. 

At the end of the day, engaging with influencers, more than just liking their content, can help them continue to make content curated for you. Most influencers are posting sponsored content less than 20% of the time, so know that most content they make, they aren’t being paid to post!
