The Influence of Food Creators on Dining Trends and Restaurant Culture

Are social media platforms becoming the new search engines for picking the best food spot? We can save you some time and confirm… absolutely! With the continued rise of social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok, influencers within the food space have taken over. Foodie influencers are changing the way we eat and shaping our consumption habits.

Social media creators with a large following have the power to put a restaurant on the map and greatly impact its success. This is based on the food they document, the ambiance, and the overall experience they convey. Influencers often have ongoing relationships with their followers, making their recommendations more impactful. This critique style is unique because, in reality, these influencers are self-made opinionators who can make or break a restaurant. Dave Portnoy (@stoolpresidente) is a great example of this, as he is seen as a pizza connoisseur through his series, “One Bite Pizza Reviews.”

Through the influencer's passion for utilizing trends, commenting on food culture, and teaching about prepared dishes and hacks, these content creators have set the standards for how restaurants are looking to evolve. Check out the “best burger in New York” at 4 Charles!  Influencers are 100% part of the conversation and are held to a standard of educating their followers. They bring a fresh and relatable perspective to the table.

These influencers are changing the culinary scene by bringing new dishes, revisiting old favorites, and creating innovative ways to present food. Have you tried the viral grilled cheese Five Guys burger? They are like modern explorers, discovering hidden culinary treasures, reimagining traditional dishes, and introducing new trends.

So, did influencers make or build the hype, or is the food really that good and worth the visit? The answer is a bit of both. Influencers have undoubtedly played a role in generating excitement and interest in restaurants. Still, ultimately, it is the quality of the food, the ambiance, and the overall dining experience that keeps customers coming back. As the dining landscape continues to evolve, the influence of food influencers will likely remain a powerful force in shaping dining trends and restaurant culture.

So, is this good or bad? Foodie Tribe recommends you try it for yourself and let us know what you think!
