The Latest Social Media Marketing Trends to Watch

Social media is constantly changing and evolving, and it can be hard to keep up with what’s trending.

Short-form Video Content

Short-form video content has been the key to social media for a while now, and it’s not going anywhere anytime soon. If you haven’t started posting videos yet, you probably should! Whether your focus is TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, or Pinterest, short-form video is the way to go. With our social media clients at Foodie Tribe, we see videos consistently performing better than photo content, across the board. Not sure where to start? Check out our blog on video pre-production tips and tricks.

AI Content

Have you noticed more AI content on social media lately? Brands are jumping in on the AI trend by using it for copywriting, content creation, and more. For example, ChatGPT can be used as a resource for digital marketers, but when it comes to facts and plagiarism you need to tread carefully. Check out our blog on how to use ChatGPT. Content creation is also a popular way to use AI for social media. Even Canva has an AI photo generator now. Using AI for content creation can be tricky though, because you want to make sure you’re using it to amplify your voice and creativity, rather than using it to be creative for you. You also need to be mindful of any AI content’s licensing and copyright rules.

Social Commerce

Who doesn’t love online shopping? Social media platforms have made it even easier to shop online by integrating products right into the apps. For example, TikTok shop allows you to purchase items within the app, rather than clicking on a link that drives traffic to an external source. Having your brand’s items for sale within TikTok shop makes it easier to partner with influencers who can promote the item, and more accessible for consumers to purchase the item. Instagram has a similar shopping experience for consumers. On Instagram, most of the sales for brands happen within Instagram Stories. Utilizing the buttons in Instagram Stories like product tags, and links, makes it easy for consumers to buy a product, and then keep on scrolling.

Outward Community Engagement

Community engagement is the key to building trust and authenticity with your audience on social media. It’s becoming more popular for brands to comment on posts outside of their own content, especially on TikTok. Brands are jumping into conversations (some more relevant than others) to bring attention to themselves and humanize their brand among their audience. Check out this TikTok video example with several comments from different brands.
