Make Yourself Known

You’ve got the mouthwatering shot, clever caption, and the perfect set of hashtags to go with it. After a few seconds of hovering your finger over “Share,” you decide the post is ready to go. There it is, at the top of your feed. The “likes” and “comments” build up from the usual suspects. But, you want more! More followers. More likes. More comments. More reach.

Making yourself known to other foodies is key in gaining exposure. How can do you do this? By being social on social media. Take the time to go through followers of other food blogs and interact with their posts. See something you like? Double tap that. Chances are if you “like” something of theirs, they will “like” something of yours. Can’t believe how amazingly delicious something looks? Leave a thoughtful comment! By doing so, you are leaving your mark and saying, “Hey, over here,” leading them to your account and becoming a new follower.

In the foodie community (and especially when you are just starting out), show your support for other foodies and they will support you back. Small accounts in particular can use this to their advantage. Because they don’t have as much engagement as bigger accounts, they are more likely to return the favor. It’s all about making connections and growing them as you go.

The bottom line: stay engaged not just with your followers, but other accounts, too. This will help get your name out there, expand your exposure, and grow your following.
